Tried that one three times with simple passwords then back to the original one and nothing will allow me in. The passwords don’t work in either of those nor my original User account. Tried this twice as well as the first attempt at a new user account.

Rebooted from the 10.5 install disc, changed password in Utilities and that password won’t work. Got a Terminal window, created a new account but that password doesn’t or won’t work. Shut down, returned to the internet for versions 8 and 9 but couldn’t login when I returned. Then iTunes, trying to go from v.7 to v.10.1.1. I have to use internet cafes here.ĭownloaded some upgrades to a USB, came home and installed VLC and Quicktime, both from their real sites. According to the download page for the utility, though, it’s not compatible with Mac OS X 10.4 or later. Under Panther, I had used Apple’s Open Firmware Password utility to set the firmware password. A brief attempt to find an Open Firmware command for booting into target disk mode was unsuccessful, so I decided to temporarily disable the Open Firmware password. Since I had previously set the Open Firmware password, holding down the “t” key while booting wouldn’t work. Today I needed to boot a PowerBook into target disk mode to transfer some files.
